By combining my background in art with my interest for computers and programming, I am able to design websites that are
both attractive and technically advanced.

Although my experience in web design has spanned roughly ten years, the opportunities available
for a designer have never been more exciting than they are now. The widespread use of high speed
internet access allows one to create graphic- and media-rich designs that offer a visitor more
than ever. Also, the Web 2.0 revolution has made us aware of techniques such as AJAX, which allow
web sites to function in exciting new ways. I believe that my passion for internet-based
programming and design, as well as my formal education in photography and filmmaking at the
University of Notre Dame, make me perfectly suited to work as a web designer.
My background in C++ and PHP programming has taught me strong problem-solving skills as well as
the importance of anticipating all possible ways that a product may be used or abused. This mindset
has helped me produce successful PHP code that has minimal potential to be exploited. Also, my
long history with web design has made me very cognizant of the ways in which different browsers
interpret code, so I constantly make sure to maximize compatibility while still taking advantage
of new technology. I have a very firm grasp of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and SQL, and I have
recently created some custom AJAX scripts. Although I’m not an expert in every computer language,
I am very resourceful and creative and can usually find a solution to any problem.

One of my jobs as the Flipside club publicist was to update the website with information
about upcoming events. Along with completely redesigning the appearance of the site,
I added interactive elements that allowed the user to suggest ideas for future events and add themselves
to our mailing list. Also, I created an administrative page that allowed us to see how many
hits we were receiving each day, which allowed us to track how well our advertising functioned.
